Lessons from Launching My First Digital Product (A Notion Template)
I sold 47 copies in the first week. Here's what I learned about pricing, marketing, and customer feedback.
I launched my first Notion template last year. I was nervous — would anyone pay for a Notion setup? Turns out, yes. 47 people bought it in the first week. Here's what I learned.
First, pricing is psychology. I started at $19 and got resistance. I raised it to $29 and sales went up. People associate higher price with higher quality. Don't undervalue your work.
Second, marketing is about showing, not telling. A screenshot of the template isn't enough. I recorded a 2-minute Loom walking through how I use it daily. That video converted better than any polished ad.
Third, listen to early buyers. The first 10 customers pointed out small friction points I hadn't noticed. I updated the template within 48 hours and emailed everyone the new version. They became my biggest advocates.
Finally, don't overthink the launch. I spent months perfecting the template, but the real learning came after I put it out there. If you're sitting on a product idea, ship it. You'll learn more in a week of real feedback than in a month of tweaking.
